Discovering the Finnish Approach to Education – Level 1

ONNI Teacher Training Level 1 – Discovering the Finnish Approach is designed for teachers, early childhood educators, school leaders and other education professionals who want to deepen their understanding of Finnish-inspired education and develop their own professional practice. Throughout the programme, you will explore the values, beliefs and pedagogical thinking that shape Finnish-inspired education. You will examine how we see the learner, how meaningful learning develops, and how relationships, wellbeing, curiosity, participation and reflection support learning.  The aim is not to copy Finnish education. Instead, you will be encouraged to question, reflect, connect and adapt the ideas to your own learners, community and educational context.  Through six live online sessions and practical development and reflection tasks, you will explore themes including learner agency, curiosity and exploration, learning through relationships, documentation and reflection, and family and community partnership. By the end of the programme, you will have a stronger understanding of the thinking behind Finnish-inspired education, practical ideas for your everyday work, and new perspectives for developing learning environments where learners can feel safe, valued, curious and actively involved in their learning.
